HDPE milk bottles recycling rate increased in the UK

A new study released by Recoup company, and 72% of HDPE milk bottles were recycled in 2009 in British, with a significant increase over last year 57% of regeneration rate.

It is estimated that the British were used 119,000 tons of HDPE plastic milk bottles in 2009. Of these, 86,790 tons PET bottles are used for recycling, which reflects the expansion amount of curbside recycling, curbside recycling is estimated to account for 4/5 of the total amount of waste plastic bottles recycling.

Business development director James Crick in bottle manufacturer Nampak company, said: “This is good news for our company and the dairy industry, because the recycled rHDPE can be regenerated into rHDPE (recycled content) plastic milk bottles.”

“Currently in all production of our milk bottles in the UK, HDPE accounted for 10%, and now we are planning to join forces with our customers, and strive to put this figure increased to 15% in October 2010. In the longer term, our goal is this proportion rose to 50% by 2020. ”

He added: “The growth in the supply of recycled materials will enable us to provide customers with more high-quality recycled content HDPE bottle.”
